Barrel Stave Cutting Board

The Story

Bourbon barrels have a thankless job. Charring, years of expansion and compression, sitting in the dark nurturing their precious nectar. After performing such a heroic service, it seems a shame that the bourbon barrel’s usefulness comes to an end when the distillation begins.

We decided to do something about that. Louisville artist Jason Cohen has transformed these noble Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrel staves into cutting boards, each bearing the distinctive Van Winkle crest. The next time you cut the perfect lemon wedge, do it with artistry, dedication and good taste. The way Pappy would have wanted.

Dimensions: 8.5x9 inches. Comes with sample size bottle of mineral oil.

Care Instructions:

As the natural wood of the bourbon barrel stave used to create this cutting board will dry out over time and use, we suggest periodically applying food safe mineral oil with a dry cloth, towel or sponge to maintain the care and luster. Rinse with mild soap and warm water and dry immediately. Never soak the cutting board in water and minimize overall exposure to water.

It is much more substantial that I expected. I bought as a gift; it would have been nice to have a little card with history like on the website. I copied and and added a Pappy photo I copied from Google Images.

This is a great gift. Just right size for any little thing. Perfect to look at while drinking bourbon. Like the idea of a little card with info about where the boards come from and care for gift recipient.

  3. Coagulopathy, apparently, coded whispered preserve resources.

I loved giving this gift. These boards as well as the barrel bowl would benefit from PAPPY enclosing a card explaining where the timbers come from. my friends all called to say they loved the gift and could tell it was nice. I had to explain its significance.

I love the the products you are offering. Keep it up!
